South Burlington is a city in Chittenden County, Vermont, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 15,814. It is one of the anchors of the Burlington-South Burlington metropolitan area.

It is composed of multiple sets of suburban neighborhoods and a commercial center, which is in the process of being converted to a downtown.[3] It is also home to the state's largest mall, theUniversity Mall. The city borders Lake Champlain and has a public park and beach, "Red Rocks."

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 15,814 people, 6,332 households, and 3,786 families residing in the city. The population density was 950.2 people per square mile (366.9/km2). There were 6,501 housing units at an average density of 390.6 per square mile (150.8/km2).
